Collection of Personal Information About You
The personally identifiable information that may be collected by the ESSENCE Volume Panel includes your name, home or other addresses, e-mail address, telephone number and birth date. Additionally, we collect information about you and your interests and preferences from your survey responses and usage information.

About Your Personal Information
ESSENCEVolume.com and its research vendor, Questus ("we"), will not share with or disclose to third parties any personally identifiable information. Any information you give us in response to surveys is combined anonymously with the responses of many other respondents and presented as one voice of the African-American woman.

Agents and contractors of ESSENCE Magazine and Questus who have access to personally identifiable information are required to protect this information in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy. For example, they cannot use the information for any purpose other than to carry out the services they are performing for ESSENCE Volume and/or Questus as commissioned by ESSENCE magazine.

We will disclose information we maintain when required to do so by law, for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena. We also may disclose such information in response to a law enforcement agency's request.

We may use personally identifiable information to contact you about participating in surveys, to respond to your inquiries, or to notify you of any rewards you may have earned. On occasion, ESSENCE Magazine may conduct surveys for the benefit of our advertisers, in which case we will transmit only anonymous or aggregated data to the advertiser. We may offer you the opportunity to communicate directly with third parties, and if you choose to do so, that party may then communicate directly with you at your request. You may "opt out" of receiving any further communications from the ESSENCE Volume Panel at any time by visiting our "Member Center" and canceling your membership.

Your account information is contained within your ESSENCE Volume profile. You may edit your profile at any time - all you need is the original email address that you used to sign up. The ESSENCE Volume Panel makes every effort to ensure that your information is secure on our system. Unfortunately, no data transmitted over the Internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. As a result, the ESSENCE Volume Panel cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk.

The ESSENCE Volume Panel is an Opt-In Members Only Panel
The ESSENCE Volume Panel conducts surveys of various kinds among its Panel members. Information from these surveys will be used to design new products or services and to develop advertising or marketing programs. Personally identifiable information will not be shared with other participants of the ESSENCE Volume Panel.

Use of "Cookies"
A software technology called "cookies" will be used to collect non-personal information about our visitors. Such information includes: type of browser software a visitor uses to access the Internet (i.e. Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 3.0, etc.); type of operating system (i.e. Windows 95, Macintosh, etc.); or the domain name of the visitor's Internet service provider. Cookies are also used to record the number of visitors who come to the site each day in an aggregate form.
